Revision Letter

Dear school chancellor,
How are you. I hope you're doing fine. The reason I'm writing you this letter is because over the last decade the quality of the food in our city schools has diminish, moreover educating our kids about what they eat is none existence. I would like to share with you some ways to improve the food and food education in our schools. The first way to improve the food and food education in our school is to, make it mandatory that all children attend a food education class. Secondly, create a garden and finally we as parents are demanding you put label on unhealthy food . Our children are our future and I'm concern that because of a lack of knowledge of our food system our school children will grow up eating whatever they are given to them thus making them assessable to all kind of disease. We as parents want to make sure that our children live an healthy live so that their future will be secure.

In many schools nowadays you can find a vending medicine that sells soda, snack or candy that is bad for our children. Sometimes even the food that the school cafeteria Serve is way too high collieries and sugar. According to the NEW ENGLAND JOURNAL OF MEDICINE the reason why most children are hyperactive today compare to a decade ago is because of the sugary substance in most food products.
In order to make our children understand what they're eating we must start educating them at an early age, that why we should make it mandatory that all children in elementary school attend a nutrition class. In this class they should be thought about the good and bad about nutrition. They should be thought that food like soda, candy, burgers etc are bad for them because food like these doesn't put nutrients or vitamins in their body these food just taste good, instead it causes them to develop sickness like diabetes, stroke, high cholesterol, atherosclerosis, etc. While food like vegetable salad, yogurt, crackers and beverages like low fat milk, smoothies, and water give them more vitamin and nutrition which intern energizes them and make their body fight diseases. If children learn about nutrition from an early age it will help them to make good decision about what to eat.

Too often in our country we sit back and make excuses about how we don't have any control about the food we are eating or we don't have any space to plant a garden. In many developing countries school children are thought how to grow a garden on the school ground at an early age. They learn how deep in the earth a plant should go or how much water should be pour on the plants, they also learn the importance of manure and sunlight on plants. By these children having there own garden they learn at an early age the importance of what they eat. If children are thought how to garden in this country, they can use the plants from the garden to make food in the cafeteria. By them having a better understanding about the process of growing food and knowing where the food come from will help them and others live an healthier lifestyle.

In today society children are easily influence by what they see and here as a parent i try to limit the things i know that can influence my children but i can't be with them every where.
As parent i want my children to live an healthy and productive life so i make sure they eat healthy food at home. At school i know they don't eat healthy and it's very frustrating. Research has shown that children who eats healthy food at home are willing to eat unhealthy food when they are away from their parents. This is why we as parents are demanding that you put label on unhealthy food. By labeling food children will be able to distinguish what’s bad for their health. We as parents can only do so much in making sure our kids live an healthy and productive life.

I would like to thank you for this opportunity to express my opinion. I hope that you agree with me that in order improve the food and food education for our kids we must start by mandating they attend a food education class, creating a garden and by demanding that unhealthy food be label, after all doesn't our kids deserve a healthy lifestyle?
Yours Sincerely
Marvis Usher.
